Installing Authority
Install Authority from authority.zip: components, licence, brand, starter site, integrations and AMP, step by step.
Check the system requirements first. Your download is one installable file, authority.zip — upload it as it is.
Steps
- Upload the theme. Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme, choose
authority.zip, click Install Now. The file is about 7 MB, so the upload limit must be at least 8 MB. - Activate the theme. WordPress opens Authority → Setup.
- System check. Fix anything marked Action needed — most often, set permalinks to “Post name”.
- Install Required Components. The installer verifies each bundled package, installs and activates it in dependency order. If one fails, fix the cause and click Retry.
- Activate your licence on Platform → License. See Licence activation.
- Brand — site name, logo, brand preset.
- Starter site (optional, staging only). See Starter Sites.
- Integrations — AI and search providers and SEO ownership. The product never ships provider credentials.
- AMP (optional). See AMP for mobile visitors.
- Finish and verify, then work through the post-install checklist in the product docs: cron, the nginx rule below, Site Health, legal pages and roles.
From the command line:
wp theme install authority.zip --activate
# then in wp-admin: Authority → Setup → Install Required Components
nginx only: private evidence files
location ~* ^/wp-content/uploads/ap-evidence-private/ {
deny all;
return 404;
}
Apache and IIS honour the deny files the product writes into that directory.
