Updates
How signed updates arrive, what they never do, and how to roll back.
On this page
Updates for the components and the theme come from the WagerThemes update service, not from WordPress.org. With an active licence that includes the updates feature, they appear in the normal places: Dashboard → Updates, the Plugins and Themes screens, and wp plugin update / wp theme update.
How it works
- Every 12 hours, and whenever the licence changes, the site asks the update service which versions are available.
- A newer version is offered through the standard WordPress update screens.
- On install, the package is verified twice — a checksum and a cryptographic signature — before WordPress installs it. A package that fails any check is deleted and nothing is installed.
- Database changes are applied automatically and are additive: updates never rewrite affiliate URLs, never delete content and never remove tables.
Before updating a production site
- Take a database and
wp-content/backup. - Apply the update on staging first where possible.
- Afterwards, open Tools → Site Health and confirm no product check is critical.
When no update is offered
- The licence must be active and include
updates— both are shown on Platform → License. - The update list is cached for 12 hours: Dashboard → Updates → Check again, or Refresh entitlements on the licence page.
- The server must be able to make outbound HTTPS requests.
Rolling back
Updates never roll themselves back. Restore the backup taken before the update, or install the previous package over the current one with Replace current with uploaded. Content, settings, licence and affiliate links stay as they are.
Release notes for each version are published on the changelog.
