Licence activation

Installing the files does not unlock the product. A valid licence, confirmed by the WagerThemes licence service, is required for the admin screens, the Editorial Workbench, AI and research features, demo import and updates. Public pages built from content already in the database keep rendering whether or not a licence is active, and visitors are never shown licensing messages.

Activating

1. Open License required → License in WordPress admin (after activation the menu entry becomes Platform → License).
2. Enter the licence key you received at purchase and click Activate license.

The address of the licence service is built into customer packages; no configuration is needed. The site must be able to make outbound HTTPS requests to it. A successful activation shows the state ACTIVE, the plan, its features, the expiry date and the installation identity. The key is displayed masked and is never stored or logged in full.

What activation sends

The licence key (activation only), a random installation identifier generated by your site, your site’s domain, and the product, WordPress and PHP versions. Nothing else: no content, no visitor data, no user accounts or e-mail addresses.

Validation and the 72-hour grace period

The licence is re-validated twice a day, and on demand with Validate now or wp affiliate license check. If the licence service cannot be reached, the product keeps working for 72 hours from the last successful validation. Grace covers unreachability only: a licence reported as expired, revoked, suspended or invalid locks at the next check. The same window applies if the site’s cron stops running.

Features

What the licence allows is listed on Platform → License. Features include product.runtime, updates, demo.import, ai.generate, ai.research, serp.live and rank_tracking; Access additionally needs theme.access. After a plan change, click Refresh entitlements (or wp affiliate license refresh).

Moving sites

• New domain: the licence page shows a “domain changed” warning; click Validate now.
• Staging clone: a copied database carries the same installation identity. Deactivate the clone to free the activation, unless your plan allows staging domains.
• Changed AUTH_KEY / SECURE_AUTH_KEY: run wp affiliate license activate <KEY> again.

How many installations a licence may activate, and how staging and multisite are counted, are policies of the licence service. If you reach the limit, activation is refused with a message saying so.

Deactivating

Platform → License → Deactivate license, or wp affiliate license deactivate --yes. This releases the activation and locks the product on this site; content and settings are untouched.
